Secondly: the Building

  • 1- The building must be constructed from materials recognized for this use, such as brick, reinforced concrete, aluminum, fiberglass, and similar materials in terms of quality and appearance. The use of any material containing asbestos is strictly prohibited. Borrowed metal roofs may be used, provided they are smooth, easy to clean, or painted with a cleanable oil-based paint.

  • 2- The flooring must be made of waterproof, smooth, non-absorbent materials that are easy to clean and wash, non-slip, and resistant to industrial cleaners or acids used in general cleaning. The surface should be level and free from cracks and pits.

  • 3- No barriers may be constructed around the building that reduce lighting or ventilation.

  • 4- There should be no cracks in the accommodation and all its facilities to prevent the entry of insects.

  • 5- The roof must be sound and impermeable to rainwater, equipped with a drainage system for rainwater away from the building, and have an appropriate thermal insulation rating.

  • 6- The height of the room ceiling must not be less than 2020 mm to ensure proper ventilation and reduce temperature.

Secondly: Requirements for Kitchen Employees

  • Without prejudice to the provisions of Chapter Three (Requirements for Employees) of Title Two of the Health Requirements Regulations that must be met in restaurants, kitchens, cafeterias, fast food outlets, and similar establishments, the following must be met for the employees in the accommodation kitchen:

  • 1- Employees must obtain valid health certificates proving their free from infectious diseases.

  • 2- All employees must be vaccinated against typhoid and meningitis, and any other vaccinations deemed necessary by the relevant health authorities.

  • 3- It should be ensured that all employees are well-groomed, with complete attention to their personal hygiene and regular nail trimming.

  • 4- The kitchen and sleeping quarters must not be used interchangeably.

  • 5- Employees must wear a clean, uniform attire during working hours.

  • 6- Any employee showing any symptoms of illness, or having blisters, wounds, or skin lesions on their hands, or who has been in contact with a patient suffering from an infectious disease, must be removed from the kitchen, and the person in charge must notify the relevant health authorities if any infectious diseases appear in any of their employees.

  • 7- The relevant authorities may remove any employee from work if they deem their presence a risk to public health.

  • 8- Smoking is prohibited in the workplace, and employees should avoid harmful and bad habits.
