The employer, when the nature and regulations of the work in his establishment require providing housing for his employees outside urban areas, must adhere to the basic health requirements and specifications in this decision.
When selecting the site for the construction of accommodations designated for workers, the following health requirements must be considered:
1- The accommodations established at the site must not be exposed to any form of environmental or industrial pollution, and the levels of pollution, if it occurs, must not exceed the permissible limits for the exposure of residents. The prevailing wind directions and the characteristics of the land and soil on which the accommodation is built must also be taken into account.
2- Adequate connectivity with transportation routes and other public service facilities is required whenever possible, or efforts should be made to establish shared service facilities, gardens, and playgrounds associated with the site.
3- There must be sufficient space between residential units to ensure the independence of each accommodation, while providing adequate ventilation and sufficient natural lighting for each unit.
4- The height of the floor surface of the accommodation must not be less than /20/ cm above the external ground level of the accommodation site.
The employer shall make appropriate arrangements to determine the possibility of using buildings designated for residential purposes as temporary or permanent warehouses for materials that are hazardous to health and life, or for materials with a high potential for explosion or combustion, or to store these materials in places that pose a threat to the safety and health of the residents in these dwellings.
