We, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud
King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Based onArticle (Seventy) of the Basic Law of Governance, issued by Royal Order No. (A/90) dated 27/8/1412 AH.
Based onArticle (Twenty) of the Council of Ministers Law, issued by Royal Order No. (A/13) dated 3/3/1414 AH.
Based onArticle (Eighteen) of the Shura Council Law, issued by Royal Order No. (A/91) dated 27/8/1412 AH.
After reviewing Shura Council Decision No. (1/2) dated 1/4/1442 AH.
After reviewing Council of Ministers Decision No. (229) dated 9/4/1442 AH.
We decree the following:
First: Approval of the Saudi Central Bank Law, in the attached form.
Second: The name “Saudi Central Bank” shall replace the name “Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority” wherever it appears in the relevant laws, regulations, orders, and decisions, and the Bank shall assume the rights and obligations of the Authority.
Third: The Saudi Central Bank shall retain the abbreviation (SAMA).
Fourth: The current Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority shall continue to exercise its powers stipulated in the Bank Law until a Board of Directors for the Bank is formed in accordance with Article (Eight) of its Law.
Fifth: Subject to paragraph (1) of Article (Four) of the Bank Law, the currency issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority shall have the status of legal tender and legal enforceability against others, in accordance with the provisions of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Law.
Sixth: His Royal Highness the Deputy Prime Minister, the Ministers, and the heads of the relevant independent agencies - each within their jurisdiction - shall implement this Decree.

After reviewing the correspondence received from the Royal Court No. 18049 dated 2/4/1442 AH, regarding the draft Saudi Central Bank Law and its explanatory memorandum.
After reviewing the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority Law, issued by Royal Decree No. (23) dated 23/5/1377 AH.
After reviewing the minutes No. (414) dated 1/4/1441 AH, and memoranda No. (45) dated 12/1/1442 AH, and No. (236) dated 11/2/1442 AH, prepared by the Bureau of Experts at the Council of Ministers.
After reviewing the minutes prepared by the Council of Economic and Development Affairs No. (42/13/M) dated 14/1/1442 AH.
After considering Shura Council Decision No. (1/2) dated 1/4/1442 AH.
After reviewing the recommendation of the General Committee of the Council of Ministers No. (2279) dated 8/4/1442 AH.
It is decided as follows:
First: Approval of the Saudi Central Bank Law, in the attached form.
