Unified Statute for the Work Environment in Private Sector Establishments

  • • Work Environment: Refers to the conditions surrounding and specific to employees at the time and place of work.

  • • Employer: Any natural or legal person who employs one or more employees for a wage.

  • • Employees: The singular form is Employee, which refers to any natural person - male or female - who works for the benefit of an employer and under their management or supervision for a wage, even if they are away from their oversight.

  • • Establishment: Any project managed by a natural or legal person that employs one or more employees for any type of wage. The establishment may be a shop, a standalone store, a factory, or otherwise, as applicable to the definition of an establishment.

  • • Shop: A place designated for conducting a licensed activity to sell or display one or more goods, or to provide or display one or more services - for example, but not limited to: entertainment activities, selling women's supplies, providing meals. The shop comprises what makes up the closed market, the open market, and the standalone store.

  • • Closed Market: A complex that contains several commercial shops and may include entertainment areas and restaurants, which is fully or partially covered, with specific entrances and exits that open and close at certain times, commonly referred to as (mall) and also called (shopping complex).

  • • Open Market: A center that contains several commercial shops, partially covered or uncovered, without specific entrances and exits, also referred to as (commercial center).

  • • Standalone: Any place designated for conducting a licensed activity to sell or display one or more goods, or to provide or display one or more services. It is located outside closed or open markets and is found on main roads and streets, and does not fall under the definition of closed market or open market.
