King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
After reviewing Articles Nineteen and Twenty of the Council of Ministers Law issued by Royal Decree No. (38) dated 22 Shawwal in the year 1377AH.
After reviewing Royal Decree No. (61) dated 1383/1/5 AH stipulating the full collection of zakat from all companies and individuals subject thereto.
After reviewing Council of Ministers Decision No. 1653 dated 1396/10/13 AH
We have decreed the following:
1- Half of the obligatory zakat on cash and commercial goods shall be collected from those subject to zakat, and they must pay the other half themselves to its rightful recipients, except for joint-stock companies for which the full zakat shall be collected. This shall apply starting from the financial year ending in the last year of 1395 AH or 1975 AD, as applicable.
2- All collected amounts shall be submitted to be disbursed by the competent authorities to their rightful recipients.
3- The Minister of Finance and National Economy shall issue the necessary decisions to implement this decree.
