The provisions of this Regulation apply to faculty members, including lecturers, teaching assistants, language instructors, and research assistants.
A permanent committee for the affairs of teaching assistants, lecturers, language instructors, and research assistants shall be established in each university, chaired by the Vice President of the university for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The formation and appointment of its members shall be issued by a decision from the University Council based on a recommendation from the University Director. The committee shall submit its recommendations to the council, and its tasks shall include:
1- Proposing the general policy for selecting teaching assistants, lecturers, language instructors, and research assistants and distributing them among departments and colleges.
2- Providing opinions on the recommendations issued by the councils of colleges regarding the appointment of teaching assistants, lecturers, language instructors, and research assistants according to the following criteria:
A- The number of Saudi faculty members and their ratio to the total number of faculty members in the department, their specific specializations, and their teaching loads.
B- The number of lecturers, teaching assistants, language instructors, and research assistants in the department.
جـ - The number of students sent abroad from the department, their specific specializations, and the expected dates of their return.
3- Proposing the distribution of positions for teaching assistants, lecturers, language instructors, and research assistants according to the current and future needs of the departments.
4- Studying recommendations related to transferring lecturers and teaching assistants to administrative positions within the university or referring them to the Ministry of Civil Service.
Conditions for appointing a teaching assistant:
1- Must hold a university degree from a Saudi university or another recognized university.
2- Must have a general grade of at least Very Good in the undergraduate stage.
3- Any other conditions issued by the University Council.
The following conditions must be met for the appointment of the lecturer and language teacher:
1 - He must hold a Master's degree or its equivalent from a Saudi university or another recognized university.
2 - His overall grade in the Master's degree must be at least (Very Good) (if obtained from a university that awards grades).
3 - Any other conditions issued by the University Council.
The following conditions are required for the appointment of a Research Assistant:
1- For those appointed with a Master's degree (referred to as Research Assistant A):
A- Obtaining a Master's degree from a Saudi university or another recognized university, with a minimum overall grade of Very Good, if the degree is awarded with a grade.
B- Any other conditions deemed appropriate by the university.
2- For those appointed with a university degree (Bachelor's degree or its equivalent) (referred to as Research Assistant B):
A- Obtaining a university degree with a minimum overall grade of Good from a Saudi university or another recognized university.
B- Any other conditions deemed appropriate by the university.
The appointment of the teaching assistant, lecturer, and language teacher is based on the recommendation of the department council in which they will work, the college council, and the permanent committee for the affairs of teaching assistants, lecturers, language teachers, and research assistants. A decision regarding the appointment is issued by the university council.
The assistant researcher is appointed by a decision from the university director based on the recommendation of the department council and the relevant college council, as well as the recommendation of the permanent committee for the affairs of teaching assistants, lecturers, language teachers, and assistant researchers.
1- A teaching assistant who has a university study average of four years is appointed at the first level of the teaching assistant rank.
2- A teaching assistant who has a university study average of five years is appointed at the second level of the teaching assistant rank.
3- A teaching assistant who has a university study average of six years is appointed at the third level of the teaching assistant rank.
4- A teaching assistant who has a university study average of seven years is appointed at the fourth level of the teaching assistant rank.
