Without prejudice to the statutory powers of other government agencies, the City shall, in order to achieve its objectives, undertake the following duties:
1. Participate in developing national plans related to the peaceful uses of atomic energy and its technologies as well as renewable energy applications and technologies, set the strategic plans necessary for their implementation, and propose laws and regulations related to its functions.
2. Conduct research and studies in fields and applications related to its functions, and utilize such research and studies to promote local content.
3. Maximize intellectual capital, encourage the registration and utilization of intellectual property rights and industrial models related to its functions, and participate in regulating the same, in coordination with relevant authorities, in order to maximize their contribution to the national economy.
4. Develop programs to incentivize the private sector to support research and innovation programs, and build human capacities and local content, in the fields and applications related to its functions.
5. Prepare standards related to atomic energy fields and renewable energy applications in coordination with relevant authorities.
6. Provide technical and advisory services to support the peaceful uses of atomic energy and renewable energy applications, and increase their contribution to the energy mix.
7. Manage radioactive waste at the national level.
8. Prepare periodic scientific reports relating to its functions, and cooperate with relevant entities in this regard.
9. Organize exhibitions, conferences, programs, training courses, seminars, and work sessions in fields and applications related to its functions.
10. Grant scholarships and offer training programs to develop national capacities and improve research and scientific capabilities in the fields and applications related to its functions.
11. Raise awareness in the fields and applications related to its functions.
12. Cooperate and exchange experiences with regional and international universities, research centers, institutions, agencies, and organizations, and consulting firms inside the Kingdom and abroad, in the fields and applications related to its functions.
13. Communicate and cooperate with international parties to utilize the experiences of other countries in fields and applications related to its functions.
14. Conclude agreements with international and regional bodies in accordance with applicable legal procedures to benefit from the best technologies, systems, research, and scientific studies, in the fields and applications related to its functions.
15. Invest its funds and resources in projects related to its functions to achieve financial returns.
16. Any other duties approved by the Board relating to its objectives.
